Is Your WordPress Security Compromised?

WordPress Security Compromised Globally!

Wordpress securityLast week one of the largest brute force attacks against WordPress platforms worldwide took place.  The WordPress Security attacks were centered on weak or easy admin/log-in passwords.  There is a video and information on how to fix this problem at your blog at this PAGE <—Click Here.

No hacking group has taken responsibility for these attacks at this time.  At one point this massive attack was said to have come from over  90,000 IP addresses, well organized, and distributed across various networks worldwide.

A few ways to determine if your site was a victim of the attack are slow performance in your admin area and/or no way to log in because your log-in credentials no longer work.  In some cases your blog may only be inaccessible for a short time and then it will be working o.k.

A Dutch company named “Cyberbunker” was blacklisted or placed on the ignore list by the European based Spamhaus which is an e-mail filtering and watchdog company.  When Cyberbunker was blacklisted it caused a significant delay of service in the internet pipeline that was felt around the world.  In retaliation for this action hackers flooded sites worldwide with large amounts of traffic generated by a network of remotely controlled, infected home computers that probe and then infect computers and blogs with poor or no WordPress security.

McAfee Vice President and CTO Phyllis Schneck released a statement saying, “Denial of Service (DOS), and Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attacks are not new, and do not demand significant technical expertise to initiate. However their impact as we have recently witnessed can be significant. Due to the connected nature of digital citizens, a dispute between key parties will impact everyone from consumers to SMB to large enterprises.

I urge you to contact me if you need support securing your WordPress blog against such attacks.  Additionally, leave a comment and tell me how you secure your blog from attacks and poor WordPress Security.

Why Online Reputation Management Should Matter to You

ORM, online reputation management

ORM, online reputation management     To understand the importance of online reputation management is to understand the critical direction in which Internet Marketing is heading.  I recommend that you watch the online reputation management video —> HERE

To sum it up – The Internet is becoming more and more social NOT less and less social as an example of this trend, consider the following:

Social proof either propel businesses or repells clients, it’s also becoming more and more important to the algorithms used in search engines like Google, bing, and yahoo. It’s no secret that pages that have more social interaction, whether it is in the form of Facebook likes or from posting reviews, end up being ranked much higher than those pages with little to no social proof or interaction on them.

Online reputation management used to consist of removing or moving unwanted reviews down in the search engine results pages and simple removing bad comments and reviews from business rating sites.

Today online reputation management involves actively building a positive, socially active base of consumers and customers that you will benefit from, both in terms of social proof and search engine rankings.

As social integration continues to evolve and mesh more closely with the search engines social proof and interaction are more and more important.

Online reputation management experts like myself are happy to create favorable search engine results and client driven recommendations that you and your clients can be proud of.

The facts are that today your online reputation is “Your Reputation”. The Online reputation management services I offer are about providing a complete package that builds an accurate representation of your business and the related brand that represents you.

Now, I’d like to share with you a fact that will change your mind about the importance of online reputation management if you have been on the fence about wheather it’s truly important to you and your business or not…

Online Reputation Management Facts:

On page 6 of Michael Fertik and David Thompson’s book – “Wild West 2.0” you will read the following:

“Today, the law of the Internet is controlled by two major Federal statutes: the Communications Decency Act (CDA) and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act(DMCA). These laws were enacted in 1996 and 1998, respectively, and they have not been updated, even though the Internet today would be unrecognizable to politicians of 1996. The legal loophole in the communications decency act makes it impossible to force a website to remove anonymous attacks, no matter how false and damaging they may be. The result of the CDA and the DMCA are perverse and bewildering: Viacom can send one letter to Youtube and force it to remove 50,000 videos for copyright violations, but if an anonymous attacker were to upload a lie-filled video about your kid sister to the same site, she would have no power to force the site to take the undoubtedly illegal video down.”

Here’s another critical statistic – The New York Times reported a survey by the Opinion Research Corporation, in which “84 percent of Americans say online reviews influence their purchasing decisions.”

I am happy to provide a complimentary online reputation management analysis for you or your business, just leave a comment below or e-mail me at:

How to Secure Your WordPress Blog

Wordpress Blog Security

Watch and learn how to start securing your WordPress blog:

Your WordPress Blog is Vulnerable to a Security Attack!

What would happen if there was a theft at your place of business? I’m sure you have decent locks and other security systems in place to protect your business assets.

Unfortunately, the same security measures may not have been done for WordPress blog.

Your site is vulnerable to hacking by the “bad guys” and I wanted to share with you some tips to fix it right now.

Here are 4 tips to secure your WordPress blog

Here are just 4 of the possible vulnerabilies that most often fail:

1. Configuration file is in a vulnerable location. It is not secured. Your passwords can be read.

2. Version number is publicly readable. It’s easier to find known exploits, which even inexperienced hackers can use.

3. Your site is displaying unnecessary detail on failed login attempts, which allows hackers to run automated solutions to crack your password.

4. The installation script is still available and someone can simply destroy your current website with the click on a button.

I strongly recommend you fix the 2 security defficiencies covered in the vidoe above.  I am standing by to fix the 4 basic issues above plus at least 4 more that must be fixed asap before your site gets defaced. There are punk kids out there who deface websites for fun and some for even more sinister reasons.

The repercussions are not good. Google can render your site unsafe for browsing and even de-index it. It can take months and a lot of pleading before it comes back – even after you fix everything.

If you fix the 2 issues I’ve mentioned above, you should be ahead of around 74% of other business owners, but it still leaves your website vulnerable to the “advanced hackers” and that is why I am here to help you.

I’m offering an audit, review and website security fix for WordPress websites as a service to business owners in my local community for a very small fee right now.

Because what I do is proprietary, I can’t talk to your technical people or webmaster and will only be able to talk to you. Please contact me by e-mail at:  or call me at: 580-458-9159
